Former advisor at Ethereum Foundation Steven Nerayoff was all praise for the XRP holder community for sticking to the cryptocurrency during difficult times.
He made the comment in obvious reference to the Ripple Lawsuit in which US judge Analisa Torres had in a recent Summary Judgment delivered a landmark ruling. The judgment deeming XRP token sale to retail buyers as not securities meant a partial win for Ripple.
The Ethereum advisor reminded me that the community was put through difficult times with regulatory hurdles. The SEC’s complaint on Ripple’s alleged sale of XRP tokens as securities came out in the last quarter of 2020, whereas Nerayoff was relieved of criminal extortion charges as the US federal prosecutors dropped the case. He was accused of extortion of funds when he was tasked with helping a startup’s ICO.
Nerayoff blamed Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin and his father Dmitry Buterin for executing a coordinated and scripted character assassination attack against him.
Nerayoff had in recent times made a series of allegations related to corruption at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and irregularities around the Ethereum initial coin offering (ICO) in 2014. He had even claimed to have records that support these allegations. Further, John Deaton, the attorney who represents the thousands of XRP token holders in the Ripple Vs SEC lawsuit, confirmed to have seen the records Nerayoff claims to have. The attorney had even indicated that there were more revelations to come.
